BEETLEJUICE

This musical was a drop dead hilarious. As a fan of the movie I was a bit leery, but this production exceeded all my expectations. Isabella's (Lydia) singing and acting were beautiful, heartfelt and phenomenal. Justin's rendition of Beetlejuice was everything I asked for and more. His quick quips, and jokes had me rolling in the aisles. I would recommend this show to any who is not easily offended and needs a good laugh. Definitely going to see it again!

AWESOME TITLE

This play was absolutely amazing! The singing was great and the character Beetlejuice outdid himself! I got my tickets on today's ticks, my seat location remained unknown until I arrived. I was six rows back Orchestra seats and the show was incredible! I will definitely be going to see this play again.

I HAVE GOING TO SAN FRANCISCO MUSICALS AND NEW YORK. I CAN ONLY SAY EVERY ACTOR WAS AMAZING!! NO WEAK PEOPLE!! THIS WAS IN MY TOP 20 SHOWS AS FAR AS PERFORMANCE AND STORY LINE. YOU WILL THINK IT IS JUST OK IF YOU ARE NOT INTO BE SILLY. I

I never wanted to end. Justine is incredible with body movements and facial expressions. They seemed to have so much fun that the Crowd had a wonderful experience. Isabella’s voice was so strong I had to keep looking to make sure how young she is !! Any of this cast could easily be a Famous Performer on Broadway. This is after 60 years of attending Musicals

LOVED BEETLEJUICE PRODUCTION. IN CLEVELAND

This performance last nigh opening night was amazing!,, so fun. All the actors were so good and entertaining! The Actor Justin Collette (Beetlejuice) was so good and truly made the show with his performance! The actress who was Lydia for her 1st professional debut, was so incredibly good! Her voice so strong! The entire cast did not disappoint anyone there last night.

This show is OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! I’ve been hyperfixated in this show (and the movie) for over a year and this musical is just so detailed!! The set is beautiful, the actors are stunning, everything was AWESOME!!!!

AMAZING!

Fun, Fun, Fun!

HILARIOUS!

Oh my goodness what a fun show! Warning: this is not family friendly. In fact, it is bawdy, a little risqué and downright dirty at times. That being said: The sets were fun, the music amazing, and the jokes oh so laugh out loud funny! Isabella Esler, who plays Lydia, was incredible! The entire cast was great, but Isabella stole the show! All in all, super fun show. I don't think I've laughed that hard in a long time. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun escape. Loved the movie; loved the show!

AMAZING

I took my daughter who is just starting theatre Lydia is her dream roll. I'm not a huge musical fan but it was by far the BEST show I have seen. Beetlejuice was spot on and Lydia the pipes on this girl just amazing. It was non stop entertainment. Even if you do not enjoy musicals this is one you would love. Not for children at all adult humor but even dad's will love it. The entire cast is amazing. Very well done. Even though it changes from the movie at some points very well written hilarious engaging just all around great!!!

BEST SHOW I HAVE EVER SEEN IN PHILADELPHIA

I just got home and rushed to find a place to write this review. I have seen many musicals in Philadelphia over the years and Beetlejuice blew me away. Usually shows in Philadelphia or discount knock offs of what you will see in NYC, but this production had the acting the voices and sets that were comparable to the best. Isabella (Lydia) has Jenna Ortega qualities and is a future star. Justin (Beetlejuice) is Broadway quality. If you have the time and tickets are available run, don’t walk to see this before it leaves.

HYSTERICAL!

You don't have to be a Beetlejuice fan to LOVE this show! Energetic and drop dead FUNNY....how did they pack so much incredible talent into one show?? Every single member of the cast is absolutely outstanding! One of the best shows I have ever seen, and I'm telling anyone who will listen to me that this show can't be missed!

AMAZING SHOW

Beetlejuice was an amazing show. It was one of the best musical I have seen. Justin did an amazing job playing Beetlejuice. The music was awesome. The whole cast was amazing.

GREAT PERFORMANCE! NOT FOR KIDS!

Overall the show as well done and the cast was amazing! My biggest disappointment was the online age rating for the production. The show is rated PG, which was far from the case. My 3 children were with us and it was highly inappropriate. The extent of the sexual innuendos, raunchy content and constant inappropriate language should have been disclosed properly.

BEETLEJUICE THE LAS VEGAS LOUNGE ACT

Although the play's sets, costumes and special effects were spectacular. The adaption to the stage never captured the humor and magic of the original story. Much of the dialogue is what seems like a raunchy stand up In a Las Vegas Lounge act. So may vaudeville like routines, that highlighted sexual jokes, and few clever pieces of dialogue between characters. Beetlejuice makes comments to people in the audience, again making it seem like part of a stand up act. Also many of the scenes seemed contrived to try and twist the story to fit the musical. The ending wedding scene, where for some reason Lydia and the haunting couple are trying to create love for Beetlejuice just didn't work. Especially when George, makes a gay pass at Beetlejuice. Seemed like a cheap laugh. Juno is Beetlejuice's mother? Again just didn't make sense, and distorted the original story from it's great story line. The music is very pedestrian pop, and very forgettable. Much of it sounds like it came from every Disney play and animation. Lydia could be been singing in Frozen. But then again all of the recent Broadway musicals have the female leads sounding like Idina Menzel. Belting out songs at the highest pitch possible, and showing little or no range or depth of feeling for the material.

BEETLEJUICE

I wanted a fun night out but I am soooo tired of everything having a political side. I get enough of this from the news on a daily basis. I didn't find the side jokes funny and I think they could have just stuck to the story and relied on that for laughs. Everyone has their own views of the world and that should be respected.

BEETLEJUICE

We had a hard time understanding what was being said, musics too loud or cast was screaming their lyrics, it was just ok

POOR SOUND QUALITY, OBNOXIOUS LIGHTING

The cast was great, some good humor - if not a bit edgy at many spots. As with reviews from other venues, the sound was terrible with some lyrics and dialogue undistinguisible. The lighting effects around the stage were WAY overblown and simply blinding at several points. I did not return from intermission but waited for my family in the lobby and watched on the hallway monitors.

BEETLEJUICE

i was so disappointed. we had an understudy and his singing got lost in the chorus singers, the sound was bad (we didn't even hear one of the punch lines of the football player), and the delivery was just poor on the main character. i love broadway, but this made me want to leave at intermission(i didn't, but it left me with an underwhelming feeling for norfolk broadway)

SHOULD BE FAMILY-FRIENDLY, BUT NOT

I would hope a musical like Beetlejuice would be family friendly - it is NOT. Unfortunately, like many shows now a days - this was infused with distasteful jokes about Beetlejuice wanting to have sex with male audience members, political jokes, a scene where Beetlejuice simulates having sex with another man on a chair and the list goes on. Just know what you are getting into because the title of the show may exude family-friendly and it is not. Disappointing. I could have been a GREAT show without all that... Gave it 2 stars because the talent was terrific for the two lead actors...writers sunk the ship.

A FAR DEPARTURE FROM THE MOVIE

They changed a masterpiece and missed the mark terribly. They wanted to center the show around Beetlejuice, but he was overwhelming with six over the top jokes every minute. They even changed the signature songs. I would not recommend to anyone who loves the movie.

1.0 star rating Joe Conrad from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE SHOW

If you love the movie don't go to the show. It took the charm of the movie and substituted it was lewdness. For example in the play during Lydia and Beetlejuice's wedding there was a discussion about orgies. I don't recall that in the movie.

1.0 star rating Denise Doyen from Los Angeles, California

TOTALLY MISSES TONE, MESSAGE AND ART OF MOVIE

What a one-note, raunchy, baffoonish train wreck! Goes from loud, goofy and crass… to loud, goofy and crass … to (you guessed it) loud, goofy and crass. No finesse, no intelligent comic timing,, no feeling at all for what made the movie wonderful. We were appalled. The reworking of the story does NOT work. The choreography is mundane, the songs are NOT memorable. The cast had been directed to play everything for rip-shot corny jokes, to belt every song, to mug every emotion. Yikes!

BEETLEJUICE

Although the acting and musical talents were good, I was very disgusted with the swearing and crudeness. We left early.

1.0 star rating Kathie from Denver, Colorado

DISAPPOINTING SHOW

Was expecting a fun evening at the Buell to see Beetlejuice but instead was so disappointed!!! The vulgarity, political jokes, constant sexual content, and F bombs were a complete turn off---THIS SHOW IS NOT FOR KIDS!!! I would have left during intermission but I was hoping it would get better---it didn't unfortunately. The actors did a good job with their singing but it wasn't enough to make this a show worth seeing.

SO DISAPPOINTED

Out of all the plays this season, this was the one I was looking forward to the most...boy was I disappointed! I am not uptight and expected some crude comments etc but this was beyond. You could barely understand any of the words sung-it was like a bad AGT audition. I couldn't think of one person I would have applauded after it was over, so we left. Don't waste your time or money.

WORST BROADWAY

I love the movie Beetlejuice and look forward to the show but it was beyond a let down. If you have seen the movie do not go. I have been to numerous Broadways and by far the biggest let down by the writer. Beetlejuice was amazing but a small part. It was a waste of time and money.

1.0 star rating Kay Doro from Nashville, Tennessee

DISAPPOINTED

What did I see? The resemblance to the movie compared with the same character names, but was off the rails everywhere else. The main character, Betelgeuse, was occasionally funny. His slapstick comedy, political and sexual banter was lost on me! No comparison to the movie character so that was disappointment #1. Lydia’ singing seemed to improve as the night wore on, but couldn’t understand a word she said, or sang. A weak actor playing a vital role. Disappointment #2. Blinding lights! Costumes/sets mediocre. Music, forgettable. Disappointment #3 Best part of Betelgeuse? The mimosa I drank in lobby before the show.
